ColorMix.
Add drops of ink. Match the color.
About the game.
How do I play?
Tap a pot to add a drop of that ink to the can, or hold it to pour. Watch the draw-down: the target above, your mix below. When it looks right, measure: that is your score. Five colors, then your average.
What does Find the solution do?
ColorLoop gives the simplest recipe it finds: at most three base inks, a few drops each, within ΔE 3, the usual tolerance on press. It fills the can with it and measures. It is the idea of ColorLoop on press: measure, then correct.
How is the score computed?
When you measure, your mix is compared with the target with ΔE 2000 (CIEDE2000), the color difference printers measure. A ΔE under 1.8 scores 100%; the score then drops as the difference grows.
How are the inks mixed?
With a simple Kubelka-Munk model, the classic way to predict how inks combine: each ink absorbs and scatters light, and the mix adds them up by weight. The extender is a transparent white: it only makes the ink weaker. Real formulation also uses the paper, the ink film and spectral data, so it is more precise than this game.
Why is this game on the ColorLoop site?
Every spot color starts in the ink kitchen, and nobody gets it right by eye. Printers measure, correct and measure again. ColorLoop does the same on press, after each measured sheet.
