01 / QUESTIONSFAQ

About the game.

How is the score computed?

Ten logos, ten points each. The real color scores 10. Any other shade scores 10 minus twice its distance to the real color, never below zero, so a near miss still counts. 100 is a perfect game.

What do the ΔE and the Lab value mean?

ΔE 2000 (CIEDE2000) is the color difference printers measure between a color and its target: the smaller, the closer. The Lab value under the real color is that screen color in CIELAB, under D50, the light printers use; brand owners publish their own print targets. The three decoys of each logo are drawn for every game, in order around the real color, closer and closer as the game goes on.

Can I play with friends?

Yes. Play with friends puts two to four players on one screen: each picks in turn behind a pass screen, then the answer shows for everyone. Playing apart, finish a solo game and send the challenge link: your friend gets the same ten logos and the same shades, with your score to beat.

Why is this game on the ColorLoop site?

Nobody holds an exact color in memory, and on press a small drift is enough to change a brand color. That is why printers measure. ColorLoop presets the ink keys on sheetfed offset, then corrects after each measured sheet.
